Windermere Weekly Parent Update

5.4.18

Happy FRI YAY!!!!   It’s a GREAT day, as the excitement is in the air for tonight’s KidFEST.  We can’t wait to see you in a few short hours. A very special thank you to the amazing Windermere PTO team who has put so much time and energy into this AWESOME PTO FUNdraiser.  Our chairs, Ryan Montgomery and Brooke Braunstein, have gone above and beyond! Thank you!

Yesterday, our visit with Mac Barnett was AMAZING!!!  A special thank you to PTO for helping to fund this visit and to Mrs. Hemmelgarn for organizing our events that led up to his visit.  Be sure to ask your child about Mac’s visit. He was an engaging speaker and our students and staff enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

As we head into Staff Appreciation Week at Windermere, I would be remiss if I didn’t say THANK YOU to our amazing staff.  I feel so fortunate to learn and work daily with the VERY BEST of the BEST.

I can’t wait to see you tonight!  Have a great weekend, and May the FOURTH be with you!

Julie

Our gift from Livingston Elementary:  When you enter our building, please take time to look at the newly installed BEAUTIFUL stone path gifted to Windermere from Livingston.  The students at Livingston took their time to create works of art and today, students from Livingston and Windermere installed this pathway with the help of Rotary, led by Dr. Alan Yarletts and Mrs. Stori Rex. It is beautiful and such a meaningful way for us to always remember our partnership bridging our two school communities.  (We ask kindly, that students refrain from walking on this pathway, as we want to keep it beautiful.) Very soon, we have another surprise to share with our communities about our work together this year!

News from Mrs. Palmer:  Spring is finally here!  So please remember to send your student to PE class with the appropriate gym/tennis shoes/sneakers on their designated PE day.  We will be heading outside to play and run around and flip flops, crocs, sandals, etc. make it difficult for your child to play safely.  Thank you!!!

Field Day 2018:  Field Day is Monday, May 21st rain or shine.

Parent Survey/Progress Reports:

Staff Appreciation Week –  Teacher Appreciation Week is May 7-11.  Our PTO chairs Jenny Dingle and Megan Rule have planned a week filled with treats to spoil them.  Thanks to local bakery, A Cake For Leroy, for donating the delicious cupcakes, parent Stacie Skinner for donating the delicious waffles and toppings for our waffle bar, and to all the families who sent gift cards for our teacher raffle baskets.   Finally, we’d like to invite all students to bring in homemade cards for teachers and staff!

KidFest -   KidFest is tonight from 5-8 PM!  Tickets will also be sold at the door.  Don’t forget to check out the silent auction and the grade level raffle baskets!  A huge thank you to Ryan Montgomery and Brooke Braunstein for planning our biggest event of the year!
